   I feel like all the dismissal of the CSAM report isn't too helpful, fedi does have a pedo problem and it can be seen culturally in a lot of non-blocked instances that aren't included in the report
   
   Also like even if you mass block pedos on fedi, fedi still has pedos. Most new instances are not gonna know to block the billion pedo instances. You can say fedi having a pedo problem is unavoidable with decentralization, but to dismiss it like it's not a valid concern I think is not helpful

     @wednesday i still feel like we are fairly complacent to it. In fact normalization of pedo instances has been the source of a lot of drama between me and some instances i otherwise like for the past few weeks now, I just dropped a recommended instance over it

     maybe a different way to look at it: 'fedi' is not a unified or coherent thing which can 'have' anything (like a paedo problem or whatever). it's a collection of disparate people participating in a loosely affiliated network and naturally reflects society, so if society has a paedo problem, then fedi will have a paedo problem, but that's not an attribute of fedi specifically.

     or to put it another way: does it make sense to say that 'email has a paedo problem' or 'postal mail has a paedo problem'?

     (i'm not sure this analogy entirely works because fedi is much less used than email and has a particular bias in its demographics, but in principle...)

     we should make a centralized blocklist with all the billion pedo instances. millions must defederate.
