I was just explaining this to somebody who was asking why anybody would be scared of 15-minute cities, which benefits everyone. It's not about how it benefits them, it's about the equal access to amenities to those who aren't like them, and use active transportation. They have been taught to believe that nobody more vulnerable than them can be helped without it coming out of their own privilege. That's why they are calling 15-minute cities a "war on cars". #yeg#yegbike
.What is piracy? This is a good definition from Courtney Love...
"Today I want to talk about piracy and music. What is piracy? Piracy is the act of stealing an artist's work without any intention of paying for it. I'm not talking about Napster-type software. I'm talking about major label recording contracts."
"It's just the sheer speed of the damage. All of these other conflicts that we're talking about are years long. This is a little over two months. And the sheer tempo of the bombing, not just the scale of it but the sheer tempo, there's nothing that tracks [like] this in such a short timeframe.
The extent and the pace of damage in Gaza only compares to the heaviest-hit cities that we've seen in Ukraine, and those were much smaller areas."
Yup, I have seen a lot of Israeli who still feel vulnerable, and think that Netanyahu has their backs.
They need to realize, as many more have, that in the "conflict" between Palestine and Israel, they are not the vulnerable party, but more importantly, that there is NO WARMONGER who will make them safe.
The latter part is what I'm starting to see more and more Jews, especially the younger generations, acknowledge. Netanyahu is the reason for war, violence, and danger.
The point though is not that Jews can't be monsters (like people from any other ethnic group), but that the Israeli who ARE monsters are doing it in the name of Jews, and claiming that not supporting Israel is "anti-Semitic". That's the point that's being refuted here, not the idea that people can be monsters no matter what their background.
@inthehands Problem is, consequences for the ownership class are minor. They will not accept their bad decisions, and will instead double-down on it until there is nothing left and they declare bankruptcy and do it all over again.
Now I know how people see AI, and it is not a selling point. By telling them you use AI, you're basically saying that you will provide cookie-cutter, machine-generated content that lacks individuality and will be full of complaint-generating errors and frustrations.
When my boss started getting into this AI hype, I let it go because although I know the truth, I also know that our b2b demographic are cut from the same cloth as him and are also swayed by hype.
We have been expanding our business because I was hard-nosed about our shoddy standards of quality, and all the new brands we represent now had literally LAUGHED in our face 5 years ago when I started at this company. They don't laugh anymore, because we now provide a high-quality product. AI has nothing to do with our success; the veteran professionals with over 20 years of creative experience does.
They are now throwing me out with the trash, in order to make way for "the next big thing". -_-
So basically I'm out of work because our company is outsourcing to AI. AI is unrelated to what we do, but our boss is easily swayed by hype, so he paid everything to somebody to completely rebrand us as a company that focuses on providing AI services; THEIR expensive, third-party AI services instead of what our internal staff provides. Suddenly our company has a new website, new logo, new brand, all focused on providing AI services, all created by the company who gets paid by us for AI services.
@straphanger It is an absolute failure that there is not one single safe path for a child to walk to school, church, the park, or the grocer within blocks in a "quiet" residential zone, because of cars. Small children can't even leave the block anymore without an adult to hold and guide them, as it's freaking dangerous just for us adults to move on our own two feet. Automobiles and dangerous drivers have taken over every square foot of our living space. It's insane.
In Canada, approximately 100 out of every 100,000 prisoners die. 3/4 of that is from suicide, 1/4 from homicide (rounded figures, as the breakdown is very precise). Meanwhile, in the 120 year history of Residential Schools, it is estimated that about 1 in 50 children have died (at least 3200 children). That is the conservative estimate from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Other experts believe it's up to 6,000 students, which would double that number to nearly 1 in 25 children. #cdnpoli
@robertnorlyn Really, all I want is for my pen to work as any other pointing device, like a mouse. Just like it did decades ago when I first started using a tablet, when Wacom was defacto for my industry. Since then they've done nothing but move away from that, with the new Windows systems recognizing it as a "touch" (finger or stylus), rather than a cursor device. Being the only tool I use, the change has made computers a frustrating mess for me, and forces me to bring out a mouse on occasion.
