also one thing I wanna note, I'm using the lian li GPU anti-sag bracket and it works so nicely in this build. You can barely see it unless you get your face right up in it, it installs a threaded bar perpendicular to the PCIE slots in a really unobtrusive powdercoated black finish, and you can screw in these little arms with various sized rubber pads to hold the GPU up. I got mine from Scorptec who were really cool when I popped in to get my shit today from their brissie shop.

Probably one of my cleanest builds to date. It’ll get more fans later, and probably an asus prime 9070xt since NVidia is such a shitshow on linux

also I honestly really love how my home network and Proxmox cluster is just this cute little stack like this. Pity once I buy the proper switches and everything it’ll end up being a lot bigger. Maybe I should go the 10” rack route and just have this chunky little obelisk of connectivity/compute but I think the 19” setup I’m gonna go for will look a lot nicer once it’s cabled up. Also, fiber on Wednesday!

@shibao@misskey.bubbletea.dev it can be tricky to properly flex a connection that fast, and it can also reveal whether your routing solution is up to the task as well. Once you start getting up to gigabit and multi-gigabit wan speeds the benefit mostly is multiple concurrent connections rather than a single connection.

@shibao@misskey.bubbletea.dev also almost any residential connection (and most business conenctions) will have some sort of contention ratio, that gigabit of throughput may well have to be shared other subscribers

god i wish we had sendcutsend here in australia, tried getting a quote from an aussie online laser cutting service and they just emailed me back saying no, we're too expensive.

like, it's cheaper for me to just go and buy a 10W unit from creality then to get this one item cut by them twice, and I'd need at least a half dozen. Like, a single sheet of 6mm mdf, maybe get bunnings to cut them down to 400x400 sheets, the creality 10w unit, and i could hit ROI in like one and a half jobs.
