I watched Firefish.social and its admin be crucified in the court of public opinion by that person and her clique and it represented an ugliness I considered leaving the Fediverse entirely because of.

I am therefore delighted to see some restoration of sanity and this Instance choosing to stand for principled moderation over .art's ongoing malevolence.

It's actually really good. I'm delighted to hear they've thought this far ahead, and pray they get as far as they want to.

@kainoa@calckey.social hard disagree there. Accuracy is not great. searched for fulguris browser a couple of days ago and got a first page of pokemon.

That, plus you cant always gaurantee your chosen instance will be Up/accessable. Even ones like tiekotter that promise 100 uptime on their instance listings page.

And lastly, they seem to be very error prone - their scrapes of whatever other search engines getting routinely blocked or something else generating error codes and giving you incorrect results.

I've used SearXNG extensively but gave up on it when it just got too unreliable. I'm on Startpage now.

It's a Dr Who reference to the Daleks who classically, back when the show had a tiny budget, couldn't deal with stairs. The Daleks being an unspeakably evil and authoritarian race...not unlike TERFs. 😆

Media outlets post 2005 were all excitedly telling us about the hovering when in actual fact they did it in 1986 - the myth and folkore and jokes persisted despite the factual evidence.

What's more important here is that former Doctor has just likened TERFs to the comically evil Daleks. He's deftly used the power of Doctor Who lore -not forgetting his own IMMENSE popularity- against the whole anti-trans movement. That's HUGE. And just in time for the Doctors very first companion played by a Trans actress too.

Oh you poor thing.

I've been battling an IBS diagnosis since early March this year. Eating was Pain for me too. Every meal. But I lived with it, for years, because part of me didn't really believe it could be the food I was eating. Not food. Holy god, no. Pfft. As if.

But my health centre put me on a FODMAP diet and it has Transformed my life. When I eat right = PAIN FREE. Discomfort free. Gas Free. Bloating free. energy-loss free. It's worked miracles for the other end of the digestion process too (sorry, couldn't avoid saying that).

The answer to this lies in where the design originated. It was developed by adventurer Steve Fossett as a ONE-TIME submersible, which would have suited what he was using it for.

The company that now owns the design supplemented this with an active sensor system that would warn when any area was going to degrade/breach (apparently Carbon fibre degrades after every usage?). It either didn't work or the crew had no time to react to that information.

There's a brilliant thread about it somewhere. Will see if I can find it.

It amazes me how they will manage to fly into my home through a slightly open window - a one in a trillion chance given the vastness of outside to a fly - but they could literally die trying to exit that same still-open window again, completely forgetting the path by which they entered and hammering themselves into the invisible force field ad infinitum. I had to help one yesterday using a curtain to block off his escapes routes.
