#Tesla leased a parking lot (looks like a closed motel?) to store unsold #CyberTrucks. Guess the “there’s so many, you can see them from space” factor didn’t go over well.
Opt out, not in. Likely because they company is run by sociopaths.
You might want to shut this off in your profile. If you know anyone who works in management at DoorDash, consider tossing them into your nearest black hole. #privacy
I wish I didn’t feel like Apple was one of the very few, sometimes only, major tech companies trying to build with privacy in mind. Yes, I get there are arguably places it may or can erode that design. They’re besides the point for now.
And granted, I generally like Apple’s products. But in some ways I also feel like I’m stuck here; I truly wish more of its peers valued our privacy.
If you sub to a new channel but never interact with their content, that actually sends a negative flag to The Algorithm and makes it harder for their content to surface.
I’ve subbed to a lot of smaller channels over the years expecting that would help recommend their content. Guess I should hit my subs list more often instead of just recommended.
#iPad anecdote: Hanging at one of my favorite #Chicago cafes, The Drawing Room in the Chicago Athletic Association. It’s a hotel on Michigan Ave so you often see all walks here.
Four devices at the big work table: three iPads, one Windows laptop.
One woman is rolling with an Apple Pencil and writing on paper note cards. Another woman and I both rocking Magic Keyboards, she’s studying and taking notes.
I should point out that no one can get any work done on iPads. 🙃
@liztai And that includes hate of everyone not white and usually Christian. China, black people, Mexicans, these people are equal opportunity haters. And Substack chooses to give them all megaphones.
@liztai In addition, The Verge interviewed their CEO recently and asked point blank "you have writers who say things like 'black people do not belong in America.' Is that something you think should be on your platform?'"
And they straight up would not answer the question. Dodged it as hard as possible and forced the conversation to move on.
@liztai Are there alternatives to Substack? Newsletters as a market seem pretty popular, and there is a lot of competition. Are those options not reachable outside the US?
If you still, **STILL** think this was just a billionaire bumbling around not knowing what he was doing, with authoritarian investors backing him up to the tune of BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF INVESTMENT, and none of them have tried to fucking assassinate him, never mind just remove him from power (which they haven't), I have a bridge to sell you.
No, I have a gaggle of bridges to sell you.
No, I have an entire planet's worth of gaggles of bridges to sell you.
When was the last time a $44 billion acquisition lost **over two thirds of its value** in just over a year, and investors didn’t call for _multiple_ heads to roll? When. WHEN
And this applies doubly so to the tech journalists who keep interviewing his malicious ass and are like "gee wow you've lost a lot of value what do you think you'll do to try and recover this? Hehe awkward emoji"
NOTHING. Nothing you damn sycophant. Get your head out of his ass, then get it out of your own (no I don't understand how the physics work and I don't care), and wake the fuck up to what's happening.
@OddDev Elon Musk bought Twitter with the help of multiple investors ranging from authoritarian countries (Saudi Arabia, China) to hedge funds.
Twitter, despite its many faults, had become a powerful too for people to organize and fight back against many forms of oppression (Look up the 'Arab Spring' and many other protests)
Most billionaires like Musk, and authoritarian countries like Saudi Arabia and China, do not like when regular people gain power.
