I've set mastodon to delete toots older than half a year (if they have less than 10 favs) - but I still see a lot of old answers. Does mastodon only delete "first toots" but no replies? 🤔

Right this, plus - what concerns me even more: if an attacker breaks the service, it's bad enough. But if he's getting shell access to somewhere INSIDE my home network, this could get unpredictable bad.

@_elena I spent some time looking for VPS prices now. This is really tempting! Last time I was checking, the VPS prices were quite higher. But with 1-3€/Month it's really not worth the effort to have a raspi at home.

Thank you Elena for bringing that back to my mind. An own peertube-instance just for my own stuff would be quite tempting

Recently I was discussing about publishing videos with a friend. And he said: "do what YOU want. There will be people who like it and there will be people who will dislike it. And there's nothing you can do about it."

But I also know from "large" YouTubers that one negative comment costs more energy than 100 good ones bring. 🥴

Seems to be a major misconceptions of us humans.

Hey friends! Here are two photos from todays small hike (eh wait - it's 750m elevation? I thought it was less!🤨).

Anyways: I started down in the valley and went up there. During the way up I only met one single hiker coming down. In the distance of the second photo (the one with the cross) you can see the cloud front that I escaped 😉

It was nicely warm up there and I was finally back in the #mountains!

I know what you mean. Once I thought Amazon Glacier would be great for backups - until I calculated what the restore price could be if I want the files "urgently".

@_elena well done! Either the encryption or .. anything else has locked me out of my backup. Always keep in mind: backup is just the first half - the second is the restore.

Good that I got aware of it BEFORE I needed a disaster recovery.

Conversation between me and my backup:

Backup: "Got it backed up and encrypted. It's safe from unauthorized access. "

Me: "I would like to restore a file."

Backup: "It's safe from unauthorized access"
