It is annoying & bothersome how often users want to state how much better #Mastodon is than the alternatives. Speaking about quality engagements. I have experienced firsthand, seen and heard of very unbecoming behaviour. Instances being chased off, people being bullied and harassed into shutting down their projects, the gatekeeping, misinformation, racism and much more. #fediverse

I’ll share an early version of #Memory with you guys. Really excited to one day share it with everyone and be a part of #fediverse the future is very bright with so many projects and things being worked on, happy to be a small part of that #activitypub

@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io I want this for the Fedi. I wish reporters would come here. Sure, the reach isn’t the same but they won’t be harassed for their work and any opinions. The news perspective is honestly the only reason I’m interested in Meta coming to the Fediverse. I miss the real time news and being able to engage

I believe in a fluid and versatile #fediverse . There should be flexibility and options for everyone. For those that want a more engaging experience and for those that want carefully curated less volume engagement. Users that want features similar to big social and those that would rather not. We are all different and that should be appreciated and respected.

@kissane@mstdn.social Thank you for bringing this to light. This is one of the reasons having QT’s (actual qt‘s and not a work-a-round) is and has been helpful for BIPOC on the bird app forever. It highlights bad actors, allows the community to come to the defense and should make it more noticeable to mods. It’s stuff like this why I speak out daily about the gatekeeping and HOA attitude. You’re so right how they talk down on big social but then want to control peoples experiences here in the #Fediverse being told to block is not enough. #Mastodon needs to do better as do we all

@kichae@kitchenparty.online I do hope there’s a chance for the Fediverse in general. But, I’m not super hopeful. When I see the gatekeeping and talk to so many about their negative experiences. I’m truly bothered.

@ch0ccyra1n@emeraldsocial.org There’s others that could speak to it more accurately & clearly than I. Such as @mekkaokereke@hachyderm.io @atomicpoet as they’ve been here & had hundreds if not thousands of conversations with users.

I truly wish #Mastodon did not bomb it with BIPOC during the Twitter migration. #bluesky is becoming a crap show. I can't even invite people here b/c of what they have experienced or heard about others experiencing.

@atomicpoet I appreciate you being willing to listen, challenge yourself and call out & on the Fediverse. Like all tools anything can be manipulated & used incorrectly but we don’t stop making and using tools. In response, we attempt to make them safe. We do this by educating, building better tools and understanding the use cases and the misuse cases.

@atomicpoet That is exactly what it is “social media segregation” which is unnecessary and sad. Instead of trying to keep these spaces safe they want to carry over the hostility into the newer spaces. Which makes zero sense b/c they have big social to behave like so.

There was a user on #bluesky today that triggered a lot of Black people. She told Black users to go build their own instances due to them taking issues. That was a lot of their experiences with #Mastodon

One thing that really bothers me about the modern NBA is that there’s no real development path. Players are shipped off so quickly. #NBA #Sports
