@dalias @brynet Can you think of a good place for that collaboration to happen? Some exist for e.g. libc functionality, but I'm not sure where OpenBSD folks should reach out to look for consensus.

FreeBSD folks already have a similar change in progress, but without a user-facing interface. Fediverse posts might prompt BSD collaboration here. I don't know where a discussion with Linux kernel folks would happen.

What one thing do you really want to see in #FreeBSD 15.0?

"and is already in FreeBSD" is more accurate. These features have been coming into FreeBSD as they've been developed - for example, the RAID-Z expansion support arrived in November 2023.

@lproven I don't understand the comment that it will "eventually" be in FreeBSD, too -- if someone wanted to try OpenZFS 2.3 in FreeBSD I'd suggest grabbing the latest snapshot release from https://www.freebsd.org/snapshots/. How does one try it on Ubuntu or Void Linux?

The @FreeBSDFoundation invested a lot of money to develop RAID-Z expansion so I'm very happy that it's finally in an OpenZFS release.

@silverwizard @joel @vermaden This issue predates Colin's tenure as lead release engineer. It's not new, but is exacerbated by more frequent releases.

Did you know that #FreeBSD can run a lot of #Linux software directly (without running Linux in a VM)? The Linuxulator is a compatibility layer that provides an implementation of many Linux interfaces available to userland programs.

So far everyone's responded with symlink, except for existing #FreeBSD installations. Haven't heard from my #OpenBSD or #NetBSD friends yet.
