@yogthos this is true of many anarchists sure, but I think it’s also true of lots of Marxists. There’s tons of anarchist theory that’s very grounded (and in conversation with Marxism). See for example Murray Bookchin. All the good anarchists are practically just yes and:ing a class based analysis.

To me, the this seems to be more of a feature of our society than any ideology. The path of least resistance is simply obnoxious individualism.

@yogthos I mean, I don't fully disagree or anything. I think movements lost for multiple reasons, but "anarchist squabbling" isn't the primary one. Sure, it's in the mix, but so is rigidness in tactics, vulnerability to co-optation from the top and professionalisation, etc, all shortcomings Lenin-style organising brings. There's plenty of blame to go around.

The thing in anarchism I think is most worth saving is the fundamental understanding that not everyone will agree.

An update to the update: Apple support has now confirmed to me that iCloud does not propagate delete actions for Health data. The only action you have is to delete literally all your data at once; it’s a fucking append only data store.

This is, of course, not described or documented anywhere, including in the places that allow you to fake delete your data.

Oh god, I’m trying to figure out how the security features of a #Fairphone (with stock OS or #CalyxOS) compare to iOS, ie is there a commercially available lock screen bypass for law enforcement among other things, and people keep being ITS SUPER SECURE BECAUSE IT DOESN’T TRACK YOUR DATA PLUS IT’S FLOSS!!!

To me, that’s not even security.

I’m more interested in: what can a thief extract from my locked phone? A spear phisher with a 1day? A law enforcement officer?

Good god the number of scams in Apple’s App Store if you search for authentication apps. But yeah sure, your App Store keeps people safe and all that.

Of course that could be easily fixed by:
a) not allowing paid apps in that category and/or,
b) having a no-questions-asked refund policy for the first N hours after purchase for some reasonable N of 12-48 or so.

Does anyone have numbers on computer power efficiency v. manufacturing energy? Ie when, if at any point, is a computer so old it’s actually a net negative to keep using it rather than upgrading?

@maswan that sounds like what I’d have expected for a lower estimate. I wonder how this compares for home computing which isn’t dominated by compute performance. It sounds like “If the computer boots at all it’s worth using it over replacing it” if I extrapolate a bit
