Good god the number of scams in Apple’s App Store if you search for authentication apps. But yeah sure, your App Store keeps people safe and all that.
Of course that could be easily fixed by: a) not allowing paid apps in that category and/or, b) having a no-questions-asked refund policy for the first N hours after purchase for some reasonable N of 12-48 or so.
Does anyone have numbers on computer power efficiency v. manufacturing energy? Ie when, if at any point, is a computer so old it’s actually a net negative to keep using it rather than upgrading?
@maswan that sounds like what I’d have expected for a lower estimate. I wonder how this compares for home computing which isn’t dominated by compute performance. It sounds like “If the computer boots at all it’s worth using it over replacing it” if I extrapolate a bit
