Without updated ID, we're forced to OUT ourselves during countless routine interactions with bank tellers, store clerks, etc. In our modern environment of VIRULANT anti-trans rhetoric -- that's incredibly dangerous.

Trump won Texas by only 56% of the vote in 2024. That's an awful lot of collateral damage for all you "they deserve what they voted for" types. Nearly 44% of the state actually didn't vote for this mess.

@pthenq1 you understand that not everyone is eligible to vote, right? And that active voter suppression is a thing? 42% of eligible Texans voted for Kamala. I'm sure the "y'all voted for this" generalizations are gonna be great comfort to the folks looking for their kids in a washed out creek.

Challenge to Democrats to, just once, maybe not tank every candidate who's repeatedly shown they can get votes and capture voter enthusiasm just because they are scared of low propensity voters who probably aren't going to vote for them anyway.

Hey I have fear about the future of democracy and the future of elections too, but getting folks online to consistently, helplessly kvetch that it's a done deal and therefore electoral advocacy and public opinion doesn't matter is about as sure a way of making the end inevitable as I could devise.

Learn to tell the difference between an internet rando with a wild theory and an informed opinion.

Both can be right, and both can be wrong and it's not always immediately obvious which is which.

But only one of them is someone you should be sharing news from during a fluid crisis.

It's far too easy for even people of good will to contribute to misinformation, paranoia, and ultimately that can have bad consequences in a crisis.

Some of the folks who regularly share wild takes designed to get liberals to reshare them? Yeah, they are disinfo actors - some are even state actors. Their goal in getting you to reshare their content may not be obvious or easy to ascertain. You are probably not even their primary target. Don't help them out.

Stick to reputable sources that you have a history with. Even that's not a replacement for just having some discernment, though. You should also cultivate that.
