X.Org Foundation (xorgfoundation@floss.social)'s status on Tuesday, 29-Aug-2023 03:09:08 JST X.Org Foundation Unfortunately, what should have been a largely-seamless migration was made impossible due to a flaky network connection between the two datacenters (even though it had been stable for the past 2 months). The plan was thus changed to perform the database upgrade in the current datacenter until the networking issue is addressed.
At the current rate of progress, we are expecting the outage to last for another 12h.2/3

X.Org Foundation (xorgfoundation@floss.social)'s status on Tuesday, 29-Aug-2023 03:08:12 JST X.Org Foundation As you may have seen, gitlab.freedesktop.org has been offline for maintenance for the past 24h.
This maintenance operation was supposed to last ~4h on Sunday morning, but was extended to expedite a number of much-needed upgrades:
- migration to a new datacenter which would save us ~$20K/year
- updated postgresql, allowing us to upgrade to gitlab 16.x1/3

I think @krh was really onto something with the whole "name important software after obscure Massachusetts suburbs" idea!

X.Org Foundation (xorgfoundation@floss.social)'s status on Thursday, 04-May-2023 13:07:00 JST X.Org Foundation @LynnC Haha, thank you! We're a nonprofit "umbrella" for projects building free and open source desktop systems. Our projects (like Mesa, Linux kernel graphics, X11, and Wayland) are key infrastructure for Linux, ChromeOS, and even Android phones!
You can read more about our organization at https://x.org/ and about free and open source software at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_and_open-source_software
(By the way: Mastodon, Pleroma, etc are all free/open source software, too! So it's a natural fit for us.)
