Pretty amazing that everyone wants to launch a satellite based mobile phone service. Aside from the huge costs and the need to continually launch replacements they really don’t replace mobile phone towers in cities which means a more limited rural market. As tens of thousands of these spacecraft are in low orbit, it will take some fancy orbit dynamics to prevent collisions and space debris. As with anyone concerned about their families future, using launch vehicles for such dubious results is a clear and present danger to accelerating climate change.

@tchambers it uses mastodon software so it is said to be mastodon. As mastodon instances block it, does it remain “a mastodon instance“? I would say that mastodon is working as designed in that undesirables can be blocked. If the Gab or any other group sets up using whatever technology, they can exist in their own bubble.

The emphasis should be that the Gab is not mastodon, it uses publicly available software and is its own network.

@bigjsl that so many billionaires feel that they need to attend a conference says volumes about how important it is to them that we not make progress in phasing out fossil fuels.

Now that the #BBC has started it’s own Mastodon instance, the #ABCAustralia should be doing the same and leave behind that mess that Musk made. To continue to be a part of the #HellSite really is saying that fascism, white supremacy, various phobias etc. are all ok. Time to move.
