Fediverse, tell me about Open Source options for a CRM system for small/medium non-profit enterprises.

I'm considering pitching another project for a sovereign/local tech stack review for non-tech small enterprises. Seems really hard to pry them out of cloud-hosted enterprise software.

I'd love to find a way to be a fractional Technical Services&Implementations analyst for 3-4 small orgs, rather than sell my soul for a corporate paycheque forcing 100's of clients onto one commercial system.

I have been having really expansive experiences this past week with the https://reimaginefestival.ca, and I see we have others engaged from CoSocial - @dawn is co-hosting a session.

The Festival is still open for participants, and cheap seats are still starting at "free" though I'm sure they can also use whatever registration fees people are able to contribute. One thing I've sussed out over the week is the platform itself is a co-creation experiement and is not just a static tool being used.

So wish I was there for this! Recently found our Oliphant founder added to one of my mod chats and have begun to explore Pelago. We need a Trust and Safety congress of sorts, as it is more of an interpersonal and social relations space, not just a “just one more tool” space. A systems map of values and standards and a framework that instances localize for themselves in order to communicate externally as to how things work.

Robert, have you connected with fediverse.info and similar? @dansup and @jaz have done a lot of instance meta-data collection stuff, what you need might be there…

Such a terribly inconsiderate cousin-in-law, but family is having a situation around here this summer.

I rather think we already have achieved it, and we are now progressing to the mythical singularity.

But I think that as is discussed, nobody has actually defined it. Think about this though: we haven’t thought through what human *general* intelligence is.

It’s not some sort of superior soooopergenius we want to reproduce electronically. General intelligence is the bland average of what a human capable of basic survival knows.

@tchambers everybody talks about the “singularity” as if it will be some transcendent god-like omniscience.

No it won’t. It’ll be what happens when all the god-machine has left to ingest is its own excretions, over and over and over again.

At some point, the entire available dialogue will be worse than Bill the Cat trying to recite limericks.

@pojntfx @mitchellh holy goats, hadn’t hear that dementia analogy before but that is exactly it. I’ve lost elder family to dementia and when you’ve lived with it you realize that it is so much more than “forgetting”, it is literal decay of executive, cognitive capability. Not sure i hould say thanks for sharing that, i’m now going to see it everywhere. 😳

Bill C22 is as bad if not worse than it's predecessor attempt C-2, and the earlier implemented C-18 which had the exact opposite effect on Canadian online media presence than everyone (well, everyone but us already-federated folk) thought.

Consider that Signal Messenger has indicated it will withdraw access from us rather than compromise privacy. it's bad.

Excellent, thoughtful thread about how even many of us getting by quite well are doing so within a system that is doing its best to see that we don't. We are not as well as we *could be* and .. that's not our fault, but it's something we still have to navigate responsibly and not make worse for anyone else.

It's about LLMs/"AI" but also about much more.

we can also 'onboard' a new community by skimming their public TL, picking a name, and sending a "hello" addressed to them from our home space - now they're federating. I just chatted back in a thread for folks wondering when they'll have a web/desktop interface to their social - they already do!

Fam, we can obsolete joinmastodon.org tomorrow and give Meta another kick in the shins if we all get custom apps and just be friendly.
