I want to make some really useful item 'skin toned' but it's specifically my skin color. Perfectly blends in with exactly my skin color.

Before release, I will practice looking confused and surprised that people have any skin color other than mine.

(PS: Just don't call it anything like 'skin color' or flesh tone and we can avoid so much of this. I'd suggest just making it an 'obviously not trying to look like human skin' color and writing the whole problem off but who am I. )

I won't even clown how blatant this Clarence Thomas situation is because it worked for him until now. That dude STARTED his tenure by evading repercussions for sexual harassment so I'm sure he felt invincible. He shouldn't be a Supreme Court Justice. Never should have been. The fact that it's difficult to make him not a Supreme Court justice in the face of all of the evidence is an indictment of our judicial and political systems. He already established that he wasn't judge material, though

if he had simply said "I picked artists I loved as a child so that I could spend time interviewing them" I would have understood that and only torn him down for failing to use his platform (YOU FOUNDED ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE) to rectify the very shit he embodies but he didn't just do that. In a super "I-hate-what-tech-has become-and-that-I-am 'in tech'-as-it-continues-like-this" mood, how are you?

Some people will point out that tech was always like this in some form or fashion and I can't really argue against that with my full chest but I will say that the scale and scope of the harm that tech could do was significantly smaller 20 years ago. I assumed, I think reasonably, that people would prioritize controlling the damage that tech could and does enable.

I was incorrect.

“Could you imagine (drumpf) riding a bike” as an insult, is lazy. HE TRIED A COUP. Why do we need an ableist insult for him? He fucking tried a coup! He has what are as close to objective flaws as anyone really can get. It really doesn’t matter if he can ride a bike or would ever ride a bike or knows what a bike is.

@inthehands I must be delirious because this is just… delightful to me. Absolutely tickles me that this court made it to the Supreme Court and dude is like "excuse me, what?" Not ONE journalist or officer of the court thought to look him up and contact him before now? Not ONE?

Thinking about it more, I think that what sticks with me most about this anecdote is that–when a student experiences difficulty–teachers are more quick to assume that that struggle is intrinsic when they are black or female. That teacher went directly to "There is something about you that is just fundamentally bad at math." and no one called them on it.

A couple weeks later, after my music class pretty explicitly became a math class "I think I'm starting to get this math stuff"

Yeah. You just needed a teacher who wasn't giving up on you preemptively.
