@thisismissem This reminds me of a great quote:
CFO to CEO: "What happens if we invest in training our people and then they leave us?"
CEO: "What happens if we don't, and they stay?"

@randahl Don't forget that 90% of the money paid goes to other Americans and Europeans, in the form of purchasing locally produced weapons and ammunition and defence systems. It's an economic stimulus package that supports local economies and effectively destroys one of the west's top adversaries -- at incalculable cost to Ukraine's citizens. We should be grateful and thankful for their fight, and steadfast in our support of them in recognition of their sacrifice.
@Adam_Cadmon1 @billyjoebowers @AmishSuperModel Is it the fabled ‘snerk’? Like a stifled laugh that comes out your nose?
@scottsantens FYI, for anyone watching this with interest, this is normal. UBI works in every study conducted -- even the ones that were cancelled part of their way through the planned study period saw dramatic improvements by nearly every measure. Better mental health, less conflict with the law, more employment, lower cost of social services, etc. And those that didn't seek employment contributed back in other ways - most often providing care for children, elders, or disabled family members.
@lauren Do you remember how they got people to start wearing seatbelts in North America? They said “We don’t care if you wear your seatbelt, but your kids have to be strapped in.” It became normalized in less than 20 years.
If they increased the smoking age by 1 year every 2 years, in 20 years, there won’t be any new smokers anymore, because essentially nobody starts smoking in their late 20’s.
