Longshot, but does anyone own the Nokia 9110 Upgrade Kit CD and could put an iso on the archive?

@cwebber okay, I hope I didn't sound condescending in any way, but as an artist who has all of his work (always properly alt-texted for accessibility for ~18 years) fed into the slop machine without consent, I have some strong feelings about slop :P
(Also thanks for your work on ActivityPub!)

@cwebber trust me when I say that an artist with the experience that this picture suggests would not make basic mistakes like that. And as said, it's more than just not-matching-up lines.

@cwebber I guess I am cursed to see obvious things other people aren't. The thing with drawing is, there's intent, you can put yourself into the shows of the artist. Why are the spotlights on the top somehow attached to the corner of the room? normally, they'd be on a railing, but the AI doesn't understand that. They are out of place. The spotlights above the "Token spent" thing, weird choice and barely makes sense, but would indicate that the artist considered that these panels are...

@cwebber ...attached to the wall. The one on the left just.. kind of clips through the wall? The image very much looks like 3-point perspective and not freely drawn, however no lines match up at all. The styles of the couple and the other guy completely don't match. Why are there only 3 of those metal rope holders, not 4? It's a mish-mash of things, like any generated image.

On Thursday @davidga and I went back to the @internetarchive to dig through 2 more pallets of Computer Chronicles tapes. We found 7 boxes worth of tapes to (re-)digitize, including some more lost episodes. The first missing episode is already online, you can be one of the first people to see this in about 30 years: https://archive.org/details/CCRP-1405A-BS

Computer Chronicles Re-digitization Project: 1405 IT Forum
These episodes of the Computer Chronicles were digitized by The Computer Chronicles Re-digitization Project. This is cassette CCRP-1405A-BS, containing: 1405 IT Forum "MPEG4" mp4 files contain processed episodes ready to watch, with HEVC video and AAC audio. The "Raw" "Matroska" file contains the raw rip of the cassette, with interlaced high-bitrate h.264 video and FLAC audio. It preserves the interlacing and separate audio channels. If you wish to play this version, you may need to deinterlace the video and merge the audio channels. Other available formats which may be marked "H.264" or "IA" have been generated by the Internet Archive. We don't recommend those versions. David Glover-Aoki david@gloveraoki.net January 2026

@0x47df yes I know they made even smaller ones than the compact flash ones, not sure if they were ever used in any commercial product. I remember seeing them in a magazine in the early 2000s.

Does anyone have access to conference papers and can somehow get me the "Proceedings of the International Workshop on HDTV" for 92 and 93? I'm in an early HDTV rabbit hole and need more information.

I finished a side project! The ORF WAP website is now online and permanently accessible at http://waporf.karpour.net, try it out with your old WAP phones and let me know if it works. The site serves WML, might add XHTML for newer WAP2 capable phones later.

@bitals @SuperDicq Right. Starbucks has been getting better. You've been getting better. Effectively using the secret menu to order lattes is a learned skill, and more people need to acknowledge that.

    Found something really cool!

    https://archive95.net/

This archive is a collection of old websites, around 1994-1995 (from CDs that were distributed then for offline browsing). The Internet Archive's Wayback Machine roughly starts at 1996, so this is a snapshot of an even earlier internet than the archive has stored.
