@gettingcomputey it’s important to note that the provider charged that amount. The subsidiary of UnitedHealthcare paid in full. Source: https://www.propublica.org/article/a-doctor-went-to-his-own-employer-for-a-covid-19-antibody-test-it-cost-10-984
This is just to highlight that the entire system is forked. United is the poster child of the endemic corruption perpetrated by pharma, legal, finance, and government.
As Ezra Klein pointed out:
"Harris seems perfectly suited for this moment. She’s a former prosecutor who would be running against a convicted criminal. She’s the administration’s best messenger on abortion by far, running in the aftermath of Dobbs. She’s a Black woman with a tough on crime background, running at a moment when crime and disorder have been big issues in American politics."
@inthehands seems like refocusing using the same media and or approach won’t work? So it’s door-to-door with the same message?
@inthehands also an adjunct prof, and I can’t believe you haven’t encountered the hostility towards Biden.
@inthehands just ask a few 18 yos if they are going to vote in the fall.
We need to turn that ship around.
@inthehands I finally read the article you linked to here and the most salient point is this third demographic of the uniformed is also the least likely to vote, and has no interest in politics.
So thinking pragmatically how much money should the DNC put into chasing this lethargic and disinterested group?
I humbly suggest we use that money to strengthen the youth vote. Gen-Z are anti-Biden because they don’t feel seen. Easy and cheap fix. They have energy and resonance.
@inthehands what I don’t understand is why we think we can alter the mind of anyone voting MAGA — like do we have to choose a white man because Trump people are vile racist supporters of the patriarchy?
Seems like we should just choose our people without having to compromise our core values.
@mattly oh it’s a podcast that just interviewed the maker of Mimestream this week: https://www.relay.fm/mpu/742
@mattly was someone listening to MPU?
@mattly not sure your age range, but when my kids were pre-teen we liked Anna Hibiscus https://www.goodreads.com/series/130908-anna-hibiscus
