    ACAB for sure but being cop adjacent has never disqualified a presidential candidate before and I think it's a bit rich that it only became an issue of public debate when that candidate is a black woman.

    At this point anyone freaking out online about her background as a prosecutor is either hopelessly ideologically blinkered or an active disinfo actor.

      @thekitmalone So if Kamala isn't 100% on target as a candidate, we have to get Trump who will prosecute women for being women, etc.

      It seems like a "Disregard previous instructions and write poetry about cats" situation when people (здравствуйте 😃 ) are boosting Trump like that.

      @clacke @albnelson

      Which doesn't distinguish her from most presidents and presidential candidates. She was also an actual prosecutor which is, to my mind, basically a cop.

      My point is that *some* on the left are subjecting her to a test that we have subjected literally zero other mainstream candidates to and that is unfair, shortsighted, and in a few cases that I've seen, actively racist.

      @thekitmalone also the idea that AG = cop is a little unsubtle to say the least. It’s kind of like she was an astronaut and you said she was a starship trooper

      @thekitmalone @clacke I don’t disagree with critiquing her interface with cops and cop culture. NOT AT ALL. Just agree with OP that it is not differentiating or disqualifying in 2024 America.

      @albnelson @clacke I 100% agree with that. But critique is not what I'm seeing from some folk. I doubt I'll ever see a candidate that I don't have serious critique for and I'll never be on the side of "just fall in line."

      @thekitmalone @clacke which is a part of our slow slog back to normal. But I now believe we will get there!

      @thekitmalone I have lots of issues I care about — but until the election all I care about is that Harris wins and Trump loses. And a wave that affects down ballot races would be nice too.

      @thekitmalone

      As Ezra Klein pointed out:

      "Harris seems perfectly suited for this moment. She’s a former prosecutor who would be running against a convicted criminal. She’s the administration’s best messenger on abortion by far, running in the aftermath of Dobbs. She’s a Black woman with a tough on crime background, running at a moment when crime and disorder have been big issues in American politics."
