@clacke I didn't have one of your hand crafted rants to hand on this subject. Do go on... I didn't think much of the ikea one you posted. But maybe cans themselves are different in hk. I was out fishing last summer and a man from india was staring confused at a tin with a key - I guess those aren't a thing at all over there.
@clacke I don't class it as an actual phobia, but rather a healthy natural fear - it never prevented me from working at heights - or spending many days flying far higher ;-) > I peek down occasionally as a form of acclimatization therapy. Same then.
@clacke I would not like to be working up there all day in that. I suppose I could just keep clear of the windows. Or perhaps I'd get used to it? Frankly, I've always had to force myself to work at much lower heights like ant masts of only 15m or so.
Norman R. Morrison (December 29, 1933 – November 2, 1965) was an American anti-war activist. On November 2, 1965, Morrison doused himself in kerosene and set himself on fire below the office of Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara at the Pentagon, to protest United States involvement in the Vietnam War.
@feditips Yes, I did understand the same. I'm also reasonably adept at sql and postgresql is my favourite weapon of choice ;-) There's always a level of trust extended to admins and one just hopes they have the same level of respect for their users as you do for your own. Still, it's unwise to post state secrets or any recent murders you may have committed! :-) @trebach
@trebach Oh, it wasn't like I was depending on it for anything life threatening ;-) I just had a faulty understanding. Even '@'/dm's aren't actually private. Only e2e with no mitm is actually secure. Even so, there's always that pesky $5 wrench! ;-) https://xkcd.com/538/ @feditips
@trebach I may make my default posting more restrictive. I already know enough people anyhow I think. I currently go with 'unlisted'. Not sure if this makes those public or not - because there is the other case of 'public', which I interpret as 'crawlable' by google et alia. @feditips
@feditips btw (and it couldn't have been much anyhow), but your liberapay won't take paypal. Maybe it's a setting or maybe you want it that way. Just mentioning.

I need privacy. Not because my actions are questionable, but because 'your' judgement and intentions are.
And it doesn't matter whether or not my communications are weighty or frivolous in nature - they are mine and only for those whom I've chosen to share them with. Not the government's, nor goog's, nor my ISP's, but mine.
Also, what is legal where I live today, may not be legal tomorrow and my discussion of it may incriminate my future self. It has happened in the past many times to others in other places.
