@pidgin@kariboka@thunderbird true! Pidgin is also an amazing choice. I'm contractually obligated to promote Thunderbird. But I love Pidgin, the open source birds have to stick together!
If you missed it. We shared our calendar scheduling project publicly last week. All open source, you can self host it or hop on the beta wait-list to get on our instance. Looking forward to seeing what we can all build together with Thunderbird Appointment.
Hey all, I'm giving a talk on Thunderbird on Android at SCALE - if you're going to be there come join me to learn what we've been up to with our Android client!
"Why work on email clients? Isn't Gmail what most people use?"
The answer: a ton of people use Gmail and O365/Outlook. So many that it is endangering the email standard. But Email is the most decentralized communication technology out there - and great clients help protect that. So that folks can have a great email experience, regardless of the server/provider they use.
I'm so excited to share all the cool stuff we are working on over in Thunderbird world. I think a lot of folks will be authentically blown away by what we are playing around with.
Some teasers:
- Rust 🦀 - We heard you want to send End-to-end encrypted files... - I'd like to take some notes...
It is the 20th anniversary since the first release of @thunderbird
When I came onto the project in 2017, it was in rough shape and the future was uncertain. Now we have an amazing, refreshed experience and the project is healthy due to generous donations of our users.
The future looks bright! 20 years on and still strong!

I need a Dev Samurai who can help architect and then develop a project from scratch. Someone with an entrepreneurial spirit (as we're gonna be building a lot from the ground up).
Using the new Thunderbird vertical layout with mult-line support. It's really nice. It's still missing some polish, but already can tell my productivity is up.
Making tech that is both good and good for people. Managing Director of Product for Mozilla Thunderbird. Trying to make positivity, empathy and community cool again.
