Fruit fly traps have become our new home decor, sadly. If they don't start going away in another week, we're calling pest control because we're at wit's end as to what they're going after, how they're getting in, etc.

I hate that the Dems are nearly identical to the GOP on immigration. Less cruel in that they won't lock kids in cages like Trump did, but I find it hard to believe we can't find a way to welcome people fleeing violence and poverty. Instead we turn them away "sorry, we're closed."

Discouraging day at work. The state pathologist found more plants at the farm that tested positive for VSD...vascular streak disease, a fungus that attacks the vascular system of plants. It lays dormant during the cold months, then starts spreading and moving during hot, humid weather. It spreads quickly and kills quickly. So we're having to throw away plants by the hundreds, and will have to dispose of more in the next few weeks. There's no fungicide for it yet. And state agriculture departments have been slow to issue stop-sale or import/export regulations. Really frustrating.

I really need to dust off the garden blog and start posting about plants again! Decided to treat myself and brought home a Hydrangea 'Miss Saori' which is a dark-leaf cultivar with pink double-florets. It'll go in a large container next to our side door. The purple coloration seems to hold up fairly well even in the heat and some sun. #plants #hydrangeas #flowers

I know what I'll be doing this afternoon: shutting down my Substack blog and moving it elsewhere. I don't need to be using a site that thinks Nazis deserve the same platform and free speech rights as decent people.

I wish there was a way to do a keyword search of one's notifications and/or mentions. Someone a while back had recommended some music, and I was trying to figure out who made the recommendation so I could give them credit.

@mikako6 What app are you using to access Mastodon on your phone? I’ve found the official Mastodon app to be less than helpful in several aspects so I moved on to try a few others like MetaText, IceCubes, and Ivory. I know that with those apps at least, you can tap any of the replies and then scroll up and it’ll show the original post they replied to.
