The flowers rustled without a breeze and the witch listened.
She nodded, unlatching her purse, and shaking out some of her bees, "Fly, my pretties, the posies need you."
She laid back, enjoying the sun as her familiars bumbled around, making sure the flowers' needs were fulfilled.
Then a crease appeared in the sky. The witch called, "Alright my pretties, back in the bag!"
She hopped on her motorcycle, chasing more of the extra day.

Tiny lights glinted in the leaves, lovely and terrifying - barely enough illumination to see by, and the source was unknown, therefore magical.
That enchanting effect always drew human travelers off the path to view it.
The dryad was pleased by this, as her little corner of the woods was quite lonely, due to the curse - animals steered clear, so the hunters had left.
But now she was a sight worth possibly waking up with an extra toe for.

"For the right price, you'll get the most direct route."
The adventurers glanced at each other, then back at the map-selling imp, "And for the wrong price?"
The imp blinked, "You'd get a long and hazardous route."
"So what would that price be?"
"...Six coppers?"
"How long and hazardous?"
"Depends on when and whether you give up..?"
"Wrong price it is!"
Well that was one way to get rid of an out-dated product and still make some coin.

The vampire yawned, rising from a deep slumber to the sound of their alarm - extra early. The sun was only just about to set.
She hurried about her chamber, squeezing into far-too-skinny jeans, and a big baggy black t-shirt emblazoned with the reproduction of a pale rose-adorned skull.
Then as a bat, she flurried down to the living room to wait.
"The delivery should be approaching any minute..."
She checked her phone and missed it.

The tower bells chimed sweetly in harmony with the trickling stream nearby.
Just beyond the sound was a pleasing horizon, violet to lavender to rose and periwinkle skies, brushed with soft cloudy streaks of vapor.
The only insect sounds were a respectful distance away, and unlikely to approach.
The centaurs stood, hand in hand, experiencing their proximity to each other and the scene surrounding them.
"Lovely," they agreed; the view too.

The ingredients had been perfectly balanced with an optimal icing to cake to filling ratio. The robot was pleased.
It just needed one more thing, but the robot hesitated.
It lifted a bowl of whipped cream, and with an approving nod from a human friend, dumped the contents on top, completely ruining the perfection.
"Now, sparklers!"
Between them, without artistry, six sparklers were stabbed into it. The birthday child was utterly delighted.

The cat scurried about, under the floorboards, above the floorboards, along the walls, and at one point someone claims, along the ceiling.
The cat was hunting shadow imps, and the place had many little dark corners.
It wasn't sure why... probably something to do with too much negative energy, or dog hair, both were pretty bad.
Eventually, the cat was full, so the job was done enough for now; time for a nap, then more food!

Each gnome was given a specific task to complete, and each gnome completed that task by the end of the day, save two, who were nowhere to be found.
"The new kids," said the floor-manager, "Probably lost track of time avoiding work. Tch. Can't trust anyone under fifty. Shall I search?"
"No," said the shift-manager, "I think they'll show up at the right moment."
A month later, they reappeared with future knowledge, the moment it was needed.

The Lady Adventurer swung down the vine like a swashbuckler being reckless with the rigging.
She landed daintily, unruffled. Behind her bandits and beast collapsed in a faint, expertly dispatched.
"Hmh! What a rude bunch," she sniffed, patting her hair primly.
Then she used a hair pin to unlock a hidden door.
Within the chamber, lights sparkled to life as she stepped in.
"Ah... My secret birthday vault."
She relaxed in joyous solitude.

The dragons danced down the streets like they owned them, stopping traffic, winding around stop-lights, racing through roundabouts, and biting comically at celestial orbs that were actually so many million miles away.
Some humans grumbled but most clapped or cheered along - some were even hefted astride long, serpentine backs, swept along with the celebrations.
Calls for "Health, wealth and good fortunes!" rang out, responded in kind.

The slender, fancy violet glass bottle swayed, the gold flecked liquid within sloshing in a steady circle.
Everyone in the shed watched it, eyes wide, curious and cautious. They'd pulled it out of the river earlier that day.
"Think it's a genie?"
"Could be someone who angered a wizard."
"But there's fluids in there."
"You try keeping all your fluids in after being trapped for days--"
"Yuck. Wait..."
"Aye, it's happened to me once..."

The dragon-shaped robot waved from it's spot on the moon.
The astronomers waved back, feeling silly for it. But then again, had it known it was being observed at that moment? Or was it programmed to wave at random intervals?
"Shall we land?"
"Why?"
"To study it; maybe it can answer queries."
"It's bigger than our shuttle!"
"That's fine, we'll be asking it some pretty big questions."
"You just want to talk to a dragon."
"Who doesn't?!"

The walls and fences were tall and solid, and yet, the cat was in the yard again.
"Why won't that mangy thing stay where it belongs?" it would hear the humans ask every time they shoo'd it out.
The cat knew that was an absurd question. If it didn't belong in the yard, how did it get in with such ease?
Clearly, the humans were wrong.
Eventually some humans arrived who understood this, marveling instead, and letting it stay.

Round and round they go, went the song, swimming with the flow.
The mermaid pressed her face up against the glass, burbling excitedly - so many fish she'd never seen before, and so plump!
"I bet that one is tender, and those ones over there are sweet enough for dessert!"
Her date glanced over at a child whining in confused distress.
"Maybe we should leave..."
"Without lunch?"
"We'll go for sushi across the street?"
"I s'pose..."

The unicorns snuggled, shaded by dense leaves and hidden by thick trunks and bushes. One snored, but the rest were all far too asleep to notice or care.
Nearby some hunters tracked, trying to find them, "Shall we just deploy the maiden?"
On the hunting cart, a little girl braided the beard of her patient guard.
"What if she doesn't find any?"
"Then we'll deploy... the costume."
"Must we?"
"It's her birthday and I won't disappoint her."

The waterfall glowed in the twilight, the moon dancing with the clouds above.
The traders paused, letting their horses drink and giving themselves a chance to rest, wash, or both, as needed.
"Seems magical," sighed one of the younger guards, who then got swatted over the head, "Ow!"
"Don't invoke... such things," hissed the leader of the guards, her muscles tense.
"What, magi--ow! Why?"
"Married a fairy, then divorced her, like a fool."

"A time-manipulating rodent? No one would ever suspect. Well done," praised the leader.
"Thank you... And I decided where to release it too," the apprentice grinned, pointing at a map.
There was a hush. Someone cleared their throat, "Uh... when is the release?"
"Last year, this morning."
"That's where I propagated my weather-predicting marmots! What if they've interbred? That could mess with the seasons!"
"That... explains a lot."

"And on the sixty-ninth day the Goddess creat--"
The cleric paused, raising an eyebrow at the chortling fighter and rogue.
"You promised to listen," he sighed.
"We are," the rogue insisted, nibbling a snack pulled out from seemingly nowhere.
The fighter made her expression serious, "Please go on."
The cleric squared his shoulders, continuing, "--created everything nice in the realm."
The fighter and rogue fell off their seats, howling.

The pixies giggled and sang, braiding pearls into the dwarf's beard, who merrily hummed along with a much deeper tone.
"Special occasion?" asked a passing gnome, curious about the glee.
"Just feeling extra handsome today," chuckled the dwarf, raising a mirror admiringly.
The gnome nodded polite agreement and carried on with their errand.
"What next," asked a pixie curiously.
"I think I'll get some cake."
"Ooh."
"Want some?"
"Please!"

The saucer floating above the neighborhood, looking for some kind of bovine to borrow for their annual prank.
"What about that one?"
"No, that's another really fat dog. Or a pony. Always have trouble telling them apart."
"Well, what about that thing over there?"
"That is literally a hamster, it is objectively smaller."
"But look at those cheeks! Look!"
"Wondrous!"
