@Lana And how unions *can* go bad. It's also telling that just one key union can make the idea of unionization turn sour in the public's mind.

No for real, it's white dudes and their attachment to their automatic weapons, and that they want, so, so bad, to think they're smart.

@jeffowski We don't just have Biden. We had an Obama who issued a huge business bail-out. We had philandering Bill Clinton, and his wife who could find no way to any ticket unless she married into it.

You're right, the reason Democrats are centrist is because the people who've been politically involved in influential circles are sons of well-moneyed, churchgoing mothers, including the press.

The US leans hard to the Right, by design of a market-savvy Right.

@jeffowski I'll give it to you, though, that Democrats are at this moment a centrist party in pursuit of stability. Whether that's good or bad depends on what news you read this morning.

@jeffowski If that were the case, then academia wouldn't be leaning left, then, would it.

I have to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure academia knows what it's doing. It follows that business doesn't really know what it's doing, either.

    Welcome to the great experiment?

What I find dismaying is that so many brilliant, achieving students are turning to MBA's entirely so they can pay off student loans. There's no latitude to build a dream. Making ends meet is IT.

@jeffowski Uh, no. Money is speech, now, and that's academia's articulation of its right-leaning. It's just the actual words and ideas that appear left-leaning.

I'd argue too much of academia still leans way too far right, that it's more about proving monetary value and balancing budgets than it is about maximizing more people's talents.

@inthehands @Joshsharp Oooh, but if businesses all over the world learn the lesson 3M learned about cleanup, that's *definitely* going to have a slowing, but positive impact. One might argue we're on the cusp of a major trust cleanup right now.

@spinbackwards @NZedAUS @BobLefridge @alpinefolk The only hope for any accountability for Netanyahu is a s US Democractic president. The world's courts will be swayed by the US courage or fear of billionaire funding of elections. Yes, at this moment Harris has to ride the center line or lose the election.

@Finerthanfroghair @GottaLaff You don't have to talk it, you can just purport your mood based on polling data or news, and just wear blue every day. Heck, you can have a whole lot of fun figuring out ways that skirt the rules but still let you exercise your right to free speech.

(Yes, I do think capitalism is the tool fascists are primarily using. "You're fired.")

@inthehands Well, point #2 got smashed the last couple of days.

I really think what was driving it was MI polling, along with that primary "none of these candidates" majority. Bleeding out the black vote is also bleeding out young voters, except young people don't pick up the phone to get polled. Palestine was/is an election-breaker.

That said, I've been done with the NYT for about a year. Our press is profit-driven because so much is, thanks to the last 40 years.

@jeffowski OK, c'mon. You know that's not a women-forward comment. Not only are you trashing a woman for not being attractive, you're cutting men loose for being unattractive., and that's from a very orientation-specific, gender-based place.

I personally aspire to looking a bit beefier.

Please, take out her teeth though. WTF was that? A NASA solar reflection project remnant?

Also, stringent difference between real tits and not in that room, eh?

... and then all of a sudden some upstart tries to push the idea that the nation can survive against European domination without slaves!

Yes, there were those who said it couldn't be done--and they had receipts to prove it.

@bmacDonald94 As a single mom, I am past exhaustion helping mostly men get up-to-speed and yet feel like their egos are intact. No, I'm not going to seek out argument/disputation. I will proudly take the role of embittered Martha and hand Jesus the gd cutting board to prep his own meal. That might just get him prepped for feeding hungry kids, or housing them... some carpenter, eh?

Death is silencing too many children. We need to stop the yapping and start seeing and doing the work.

@StillIRise1963 I've long argued the the Democratic party is centrist, and the Republican is hard right, even the "moderates." There is no hard left party, in large part because where the center goes, so goes the nation. And we are a right-leaning nation.

As far as Palestine goes, just imagine if it were Jared Kuschner instead of Anthony Blinken. Imagine if Ukraine had already lost. Imagine the Saudi oil we'd be burning though. Imagine how Trump would be handing this.

    Get.an.imagination.

@amerika @StillIRise1963 The left is a mess, frankly. It's all over the place depending on who you talk to. The lack of organization and organizing principles on the left is arguably why the US is a right-leaning nation.

@amerika @StillIRise1963 The left disorganized because it doesn't have church to go to every week.
It's disorganized because it's multilingual and culturally inclusive.
It's disorganized because it's fighting for the rights of those who have mental illnesses and communication difficulties.
it's disorganized because by definition it lacks the resources (money) the establishment has.
Disorganization isn't a bad thing. It just is. We need to see it in and outside ourselves. We have work to do.

On Wahpekute land in the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ territory. It's long been my complaint that money/power doesn't land in the hands of intelligence. Until it's a cultural imperative that kindness is smart, that Paul Wellstone finally hits it home with his assertion that, "We all do better when we all do better," we will not all do better, which means humanity will remain weaker than it could be against the forces of nature. We are so busy competing with each other, we aren't surviving.
