Stuff that we’ve learned doesn’t matter: - debate performance - charisma - spending - hundreds of thousands of deaths from mishandling a pandemic - being a Russian asset - wanting to terminate the Constitution - a coup attempt - union endorsements - newspaper endorsements - retired military endorsements - politician endorsements - celebrity endorsements - being a felon x34 - committing rapes - being on trial for espionage - praising Hitler - crashing the economy
Everyone needs to take a moment and ponder the fact that Chump was totally disinterested in politics until he visited the U.S.S.R. in the spring of 1987. Just months after his visit to Moscow, he suddenly registered as a Republican, floated the idea of running for president, and spent $100,000 (in 1987 dollars) buying full-page ads in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Boston Globe with the motive of eroding public faith in our support of NATO.
I don’t often recommend a #podcast, but this episode of #ItCouldHappenHere is exceptional. It’s a deep dive into the roll of Christian evangelicals in #Texas politics, and how its tentacles creep into all aspects of national and even international affairs. A must-listen for sure.
@indigenous_commentator I don’t watch TV, so I didn’t see any of it. I don’t need to. I’d vote for a hamster if it meant keeping Chump out of there. Consider it harm reduction.
Nothing #weird about a presidential candidate saying he’ll move to Venezuela if he loses the election, nope nope nope. Very normal and genius behavior using all the best words, bigly.
A lavishly-funded, openly fascist group like the Heritage Foundation isn’t going to just suddenly drop it. This is the Right’s playbook for decades to come. Dozens of authors didn’t spend thousands of hours writing this white nationalist war strategy for a single passing chance at one election. This is the Republican Party’s bible now, and Democrats need to beat them over the heads with it and end all this talk about “working together” with fascists.
I don’t think a polished, 900-page fascist playbook written by dozens of contributors is going to simply go away after 2025 comes and goes. #project2025
Here’s an important bit of #history that no one should miss:
Right up until the U.S. entered WWII, there were loads of Nazi-fanboy fascists here. The thing is, after the war, they didn’t go anywhere... they were always here; they just got real quiet for a few decades, waiting for a time they would feel safe to come out of hiding again. That time is now, their methods are masked behind folksy-sounding groups like “The Heritage Foundation”, and Chump is their Hitler.
From a different timeline. There are fields in Germany soaked with the blood of Nazis and fascists who were killed by my ancestors, so yeah... I’m anti-fascist. Proudly. Forever. I swear a lot. 100% immune to the Trump mind virus. The entirety of the Democratic Party is to the right of me and millions of other Americans. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
