To rise through the officer ranks in the U.S. Army National Guard, one must start at Second Lieutenant. Then, the ranks go as such:

Major General
Lieutenant General
General

Generals are answering to someone who is six promotions beneath them. It’s like having a SEAL Team led by a Cub Scout. It’s all very silly and unserious.
