@atomicpoet @fediversenews What exactly does it mean when a non-Mastodon-type app "joins the Fediverse". I joined Bookwyrm after seeing a similar statement. How it links to "the Fediverse" doesn't really make sense to me.

@aswath @atomicpoet @fediversenews I've never done any DMs in any of the apps, so I guess that explains it. I was thinking book status updates would show up on my Mastodon feed or something if I followed a Bookwyrm user from Mastodon.
