Que o app Conversations oferecia um servidor para a gente criar uma conta e poder usar o #XMPP acho que todo mundo já sabia, mas vcs sabiam que eles oferecem o serviço e nos deixam escolher nosso próprio nome de domínio, enquanto eles gerenciam a infra? Eu não sabia!

Atualmente para minha conta XMPP eu estou usando o servidor de uma associação (chapril) mas não gosto do nome e nem sou ligada à ela, então talvez pense em adquirir um domínio para mim.

A questão é: qual nome de domínio eu gostaria? Eu mal consigo escolher nome de pet 😩

@snow dalla regia mi dicono che i server #XMPP "moderni" sono incredibilmente leggeri confrontati a #Matrix, al punto da poter girare in CM da 12$/anno. Non ricordo però dove l'ho letto e quale server era consigliato

I installed #Signal and #Conversations_im on a clean install of #GrapheneOS on my Pixel 4a and measured the battery impact. The results are shocking!

Both messengers had only one contact: my regular phone.

I used my regular phone to send messages to the Pixel 4a (which was not used for anything else over the course of the experiment).

I always sent the same message via Signal and #XMPP (mixing up which app went first). In total I sent ~32 messages in intervals of 10mins to a few hours.

We tried the "The NSA kills people based on meta data" approach and it did nothing to convince people to use #XMPP.
How about changing our messaging to: "Your crippling BNPL debt is a direct consequence of Google, Meta and ByteDance knowing every fucking thing about you"

I need a simple messaging system to install locally so I can get notifications from the #monitoring system when the inet goes down. Which one would be simpler to install? #xmpp? #irc? Something else?

I have a lot of such alarms and use indeed #XMPP for it. I wrote my own #Python scripts with #slixmpp for it, but just using e.g. #goSendXMPP https://salsa.debian.org/mdosch/go-sendxmpp by @mdosch might work well enough.

¿Que proveedor de #xmpp recomiendan? Disroot sigue con problemas y ya es medio inusable.
