Thanks for the thread and the linked Mastodon hosting architecture. I'd love to see a write-up of the possible and reasonable architectural decisions that went into this, and how they can help reduce the Mastodon hosting bill.

As somebody running a 3k users #xmpp server on a ~15€/mo VM I'm also shocked by the huge numbers going around.
