So, assuming I'm not interested in answers like "neither! use #mastodon!", why would someone use #bluesky over #threads? My wife is on Threads and says there's a good vibe over there. I'm not going to join because I don't want any Facebook any my life, but I'm also not representative. Who does bluesky target? People who are anti-Meta but can't figure out signing up for an account like you would email?
I noticed that #AppleEvent was trending almost immediately on #Mastodon before I even posted (I am on a solo instance by the way) as people were talking about it.
However, despite being an hour into the event, #Threads has yet to feature any conversation about the event.
I love that @threads has joined the #Fediverse, but their algorithm still needs work, especially with breaking news.
[Allegedly] [...] Meta is delaying Fediverse support for European Union Threads users due to the Digital Markets Act, which (for better or worse) complicates launching new technologies within the European Market for non-European companies.
People complain on #threads that by federating, they have no control over where their posts go. That this can be dangerous. I guess with full federation, you can control who follows you using the protocol. That's nice.
But on most social networks, your posts are public. Even if people need to be logged in to see it, any user of that service can copy your posts anywhere else they want to. Bots can scrape them. Welcome to blogs and RSS.
Very few have thought at all about what #microblogging is.
Jeeez, every day I look at #threads there are more and more inane posts asking “what’s is this…” just to get replies. The whole platform is pretty much full of shite.
I’m deactivating #Threads and going all-in on Mastodon.
I’ve been using both on and off for months, and my timeline on Threads has been overrun with shitposts, meme screenshots, and other nonsense.
I like that the #fediverse is smaller, more focused on building communities, and generally kinder. And most of the major folks I want to hear from are here.
@BeAware I was very active on #Threads, but this summer, after one year of use, I slowed my efforts on the platform.
My posts no longer receive the volume of reactions that they once did because their algorithm is such that you must be extremely active to hold your position of being seen. I just don't have time for that. I want to post whenever I want, frequently or infrequently, but still be seen. That's not achievable with @threads.
I love the fact that because Threads has this dumb "opt-in" to the Fediverse crap, people who don't turn it on can spread lies and misinformation about Fedi and folks here can't even see it to dismiss the claims...😒🙄
Apparently there's NO moderation here whatsoever. Wild west motherfuckers! (It's not the best, but it's far from lawless)🤦♂️
I might post at the time or might not. Around week I won't be active.
Even after it.
Honestly, wish me luck. I will be looking for job out there in Florida and I might return back, but not very soon.
Unless I find a job.
See you next time!

Meanwhile, while it's still on my mind, let me post my thoughts in one post:
Thought one:
Bluesky, as far as it seems, seems to be the best Twitter alternative as of now.
You see, unlike Mastodon, it has so-called "profile labelers". Won't explain to you now what are these things, since I don't have time, so you can figure it out on your own.
Long story short, because Bluesky has ***real*** DMs (dislike private mentions on here), just like on Twitter, has profile labelers, has a Twitter feeling interface and community and similar algorithms and most of Twitter's features, --- Bluesky might be the best candidate to be Twitter alternative!
Thought number two:
I see everyone on #Threads discussing Bluesky. Many people seem to be disliking Threads and prefer Bluesky instead. I also heard many Brazilians news programs switching now to Bluesky.
Listen, I know what you gonna say. That Mastodon is the best one.
Thought number 3:
Engagement report:
I have 354 followers on Twitter (never call it #X !), most are bots, some real humans, but I mainly receive no interaction unless I reply to a tweet that is about to go viral.
I have 30 followers on Bluesky. No interaction, unless I respond to any post.
Basically: only my replies on #Twitter and #Bluesky have interactions. My posts don't.
Another thought: my engagement on #Mastodon is the best one. Here, I have 155 followers.
You see, Bluesky is the best alternative ONLY if you previously had big audience on Twitter. If you weren't popular at all and didn't made any name on there, Bluesky is useless to you as alternative to Twitter.
I never made a name over there.
Here, on Mastodon, I got a good audience of mine. I can tell that some good amount of people on Mastodon are familiar with me, and it's easy to go viral on here.
Here, I have real conversations. I mean, I do as well have conversations on these other 3 platforms too, but like, here people are actually want to discuss anything.
Man.
Nobody knows me on Bluesky, Twitter, Threads.
Oh, Threads. I have 51 followers over there but only my Mastodon friends interact with me. Same on Bluesky.
So,
Best engagement and easiest way to go viral? Mastodon.
Best way to get your Twitter audience back on another platform without Elon? It's Bluesky.
And if you want to....I totally have no idea for what cases I could recommend Threads.
