"My hope is that the large social media networks run by corporations will be substantially replaced by tens or even hundreds of thousands of smaller ones run by individuals. The fact that this is already happening on the Fediverse has received much news coverage since the end of 2022. What no one seems to be acknowledging is that to a lesser extent the #decentralization of social media has also been occurring on the Web and other networks. I strongly hope this trend will accelerate."

The future happens fast!
The thing about being a futurist is that you know that certain things are inevitable - much of it just has to do with the timing.
But most BIG trends become VERY REAL at some point and have a massive impact.
With that in mind, here are a few of the major trends I'm watching that have made their way into various keynote presentations in agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, insurance, retail, and other industries.
Humanoid robots. This is moving faster than fast! There are dozens of companies coming into this space, and innovation is happening quickly. Some suggest that we will see sub-$15,000 robots available by the end of the year. They will play a role in logistics and warehousing, healthcare and seniors care, building and construction site inspection, and more. Get ready for Rosie the Robot - for real!

That's why, as you know, one of my go-to stage phrases is this: "Companies that don’t yet exist will build products that are not yet conceived, based on ideas that have yet been generated, using materials not yet invented, with manufacturing methods that have not yet been conceived. Are you ready for the new world of disruption?”
That idea is the essence of disruption and is the essence of what is the focus of my many corporate keynotes - and that's why I feature this tagline on my home page.
Question to #blind people who use two #operatingSystems on your computer: How do you dual boot accessibly? I'm getting some help from someone to set up my #computer, and I'm trying to decide between just getting rid of #Windows or dual booting. If I dual boot, I'm thinking of buying a second hard drive just for #archLinux. It's expensive to get another hard drive, but this way I wouldn't need to get rid of #Windows11. Is there anything I would need to do to make this setup #accessible? How do you know when the menu to choose which OS you want comes up? #tech#technology#Linux#accessibility@mastoblind@main
Right now the Apple Watch 10 is being featured, although I am here for the new iPhone 16! 😂
I will post more updates on @darnell (One) & occasionally on @darnell (Threads). The former has an iPad App which will make it easier to watch the event & post my thoughts.
I think there are some instances with more photos as an option. I think it is something that individual instances on the back end. Alternatively, you can also use @pixelfed which allows up to 10. Personally, I use Mastodon as my main Fediverse base and I post my nice photos on my Pixelfed and I boost them here.
...take is, of course, pure speculation. Here is my prophecy:
"În its final development, the telephone 👉will be carried about by the individual, perhaps as we carry a watch today.👈 It probably 👉will require no dial or equivalent, and I think the users will be able to see each other, if they want, as they talk.👈 Who knows but what 👉it may one day actually translate from one language to another?"

Life shouldn't be a series of missed opportunities but a history of achieved possibilities.
The essence of disruptive thinking is developing the ability to decide the presence of imperfect information.
One of the lines I will often use on stage involves the ability to move into markets that do not yet exist with products or services not yet conceived. Steve Jobs didn't launch the iPod or iPhone with perfect information as to what a future market might look like - he just knew the timing was right. Reed Hastings didn't bring Netflix to the world with detailed information on the future of streaming services - in fact, he first had the company go into the physical DVD space. Jeff Bezos didn't launch Amazon with full details as to what the future of the 'everything online' store might look like - he just had a gut feeling that online commerce would be a thing.
So what are you waiting for? Perfect information? Absolute certainty? Minimal risk? A guarantee of success?
That's not how you do things.
You jump in, move forward, get involved, try things out - and make decisions.
Right now, millions of new jobs are being created, companies are being born, and service industries are being built around them. Ten or twenty years from now, we'll all look back and go 'Whoah.'
And there will be many people who will be in a state of regret because they didn't take the opportunity when they should have. They will be surrounded by those who made a decision, dipped their toes into future waters, and started to move forward, not back.
English physicist and radio astronomer Bernard Lovell was born #OTD in 1913.
He is best known for his contributions to the development of airbone radar (particularly on the magnetron) during World War II. He was also the founder of Jodrell Bank Observatory. The centerpiece of the observatory was the Lovell Telescope, completed in 1957. At the time, it was the largest steerable radio telescope in the world.
