Easy. I came up with this thing called Garbage Day, which I originally would sing to the tune of the chorus from Jesus Christ Superstar. I love that musical unironically I would sing it to taunt God for the Divine inaction in terms of Bullshit and Bad Shit.
Bad Shit? Murder, rape, famine, and disasters of every kind.
Bullshit? Did you lose $5, stub your toe, misplace a favourite pair of socks?
Patrick, you didn't invent Theodicy you know? Duh, asshole.
#atheism#faith#god But faith in connection with #hope moves always towards amelioration and has positive vibes. When you look at #MAGA there is no hope now but anticipation of punishment, revenge and "satisfying" cruelty ...
How come when people say "unicorns, faries, dragons, etc, don't exist," other people don't rebuttal by saying "you can't say that because you don't have proof that they don't exist," but people do make this rebuttal when someone says "god doesn't exist?"
You're using what can aptly be described as a fairytale (the birth of #Jesus) to prove the effectiveness of #faith and not a real-world example of faith that can be studied or examined. A story that no one can prove actually happened doesn't prove the effectiveness of faith, let alone the existence of your #god.
One of my hopes in talking about #atheism is to put cracks in #faith and make folks google #facts.
I do not think it’s a “good” thing for folks to #believe something despite #knowing something different. I think it’s largely why we’re here. Starts at #god.
"Capitalism" is no more the fundamental problem than are religions. For example, a religion could be founded on the idea that #God was a pacifist, but, the folk that harbour violent attitudes wouldn't (want to) believe in that God.
#Capitalism is *only* an economic model (nothing more). That model can be 'tweaked" to serve the majority, or for example, a minority of billionaire capitalists. If the model is tweaked towards social welfare, it looks more like #socialism
I knew I didn't believe in #god when I was about 5 years old. I realized it all at once. I tried to tell my mother, but she didn't understand what I was saying. Even at 5, my ability to obscure meaning presaged my destiny as a poet. After that, I didn't think to mention it to anyone until my teens. It wasn't a subject that came up outside of Sunday School. Ironically for religious revanchists, US society was much more secular then. I don't think children were asked about god so much. #atheist
I join you in calling for respectful actions and conversations. And in not taking one group's perceived disrespect toward another's as open season to mock them.
