@Paradox @druid we'll see, I'm not gonna bet on it. I don't think anyone in the real world gives a fuck about elon, certainly not to the point of upending the entire hierarchy of social media sites. in this highly specific case vtubers might just be terminally online enough to get on board with something like that, but in the end what they're doing is promoting their business so the bigger platform wins. commercial slop stays where the eyeballs are, and people at large stay where the commercial slop is.

again I don't really know what I'm talking about but I would predict that bluesky is gonna be fedi-tier successful, which means that it'll work nicely for a niche audience to find a smaller group of friends to chat with, perhaps the way social media was meant to work in the first place. I'm not gonna shit on the rules they have too much, some people like that stuff. but if it ever becomes anything more than that, something very weird will have to happen.
