@tml The referendum with 64,3% against development was a clear will of the citizens from all districts of Berlin. So the law against development was passed. But since then, nearly every Senate including the CDU or SPD tried to overturn this law. There is a big lobby of investment and building companies. The Berlin real estate industry is also said to be one of the world biggest money laundering machines. Some reputable papers wrote about it. But most political parties yell: Bauen, bauen, bauen! Don't compare Helsinki with Berlin. We have many sealed or derelict areas where social housing could be built, if this were the aim of the Senate's policy at all. The Tempelhofer Field has a high value for the urban climate and for recreation of the local population. Some are even coming from other districts to enjoy it. At least those who pushed for the referendum still organize against the capitalist exploitation of the Field: @thf100
