Mike Masnick ✅@shoq @lrhodes i do believe that they take a different view of federation. since the larger goal is more decentralization, not just distributed. so they abstract the different layers of the system, and actually see the reliance on defederation as a moderation tool as a kind of a kludge that comes with other problems (some of which have been seen here).
There are both pros and cons to each approach.
