it's all a matter of whose history you identify with and wish to highlight. if you're proudly apolitical, tolerate and promote nonfree software like Linux, whether or not also pretending to stand for freedom, by all means highlight Linux and OSS. if you enjoy being part of a social and political movement, if you think people should be entitled to software freedom and would like to promote this idea, by all means promote GNU and FS. if you're somewhere in between, don't wish to commit to either one, the terms to reach for are GNU+Linux and FLOSS. your choice of terms is a valuable signal if you wish to promote change, to communicate what kind of change you wish to promote
