@kinetix I'd say it's more that you're missing the point. The original post wasn't trying to argue that the current tip system in the US is good, but that, in this current flawed system, being able to afford a dinner at a nice restaurant means also being able to afford a much larger tip than what's just required to complement the wait staff critically low wages.
