- Embed this noticeThat's my rope-a-dope. At the end of the day, the person who thinks bad thing bad is exercising faith no different from the person against whom he employs the theodicy. Humans are necessarily religious animals. The "science bros" are just substituting one faith for another. I see them as being far more dangerous though, because at least the person who openly professes faith understands to some extent what they are doing — exercising faith. The science bros have no clue.
So to me, at this juncture, and being the autistic mediator I am, I'm not going to take a side as who is "right," rather I believe that science bros understanding that they themselves are "religious" is a necessary first step towards mediating the dispute. Though I do ultimately think that the mediation leads back to a belief in God.
