He has his own ideal that isn't particularly rooted in a tradition at all, but he's a huge dork and likes reading old books that no one else does, which makes it easy to repurpose ancient language for his own internal idealism.
Guenon fits the label "traditionalist" more aptly. His methods weren't perfect either but his project is based in solving real tangible defect that developed in the Western tradition.
