@icedquinn Nostr comes with its own set of flaws and issues that the Fediverse is quite robust at handling (e.g., spam). It would be fairly difficult to control all of that without some sort of conservatorship or custodial model (intrinsic to the Fediverse and decentralized across individual instances).
Honestly, once you leave the Mastodon side of Fedi, all these issues with Fediverse's structure really melt away. And, outside of the protocol itself, I think the Fediverse benefits from the best and largest community across the alternative networking space, and the best overall user experience in terms of functionality and usability (it's coherent, the client and server softwares are matured).
There is also work being done to develop and implement genuinely migratory or nomadic identities on ActivityPub. @arnelson @gabriel
