My biggest complaint? They were open from 18:00-1:00 and played music during that time. Fortunately, because the houses were made of brick and not cardboard, having the windows closed blocked out the noise, so it only became an annoyance during the summer when it was too hot to close windows, but by that point it was warm enough for outdoor labor so I was dead tired anyway and slept through it all.
Was it annoying? Yeah a little bit. Was it worth being able to sneak downstairs and get some late night pizza, all to myself, fresh whenever I wanted for €5? Absolutely, and if you genuinely think suburbia is preferable then you deserve every minute of commute and social isolation.
