@pepsi_man @Zettour @hakui @sj_zero Hybrids may be unnecessary, but if you think about it, it's kind of awesome to have the extra ponies when you need it from electric. The Prius is one of the best designed cars from a mechanical and systematic standpoint. It's basically a masterpiece of engineering, and I say that knowing full well that the people who often drive them are insufferable. I'd rather see hybrids used for performance boost rather than just relying on turbos which we know will likely shorten the lifespan of an aluminum block engine.
