@vic @PurpCat to be specific, my ORIGINAL RESEARCH shows that AV1 handles stuff like pixel art or abstract geometric imagery very poorly as AV1 has a type of temporal distortion whereas like x264 just adds noise artifacts to the image. It does better for stuff like human faces where you can more safely interpolate between organic shapes.
