both programs only gather the information that their developers care about and display it in the manner that their developers care about

this goes back to the good old issue of developing software, which is, no one who wants to use software wants to develop it, the people who do develop software usually develop it for themselves, the people who want the software developers to cater to their needs do not want to help the development of software, so it becomes a vicious circle of no one getting exactly what they want unless they develop their own software and only a few care enough to do so.
