     @mischievoustomato @nihilvt i mean isn't hwinfo just a hardware info aggregator? I'm sure it's not hard to make your own aggregator with a shell script, so that's why noone made a real 'Professional System Information and Diagnostics™'

     @mischievoustomato@tsundere.love I'm saying that was my own experience trying to use Ubuntu or PopOS forever ago, 1920x1080 wasn't an option in the settings and I had to manually create it

     @mischievoustomato @ainsworth @nihilvt clariication may be needed here just in case: there's a cli program in linux called hwinfo https://github.com/openSUSE/hwinfo

     cpu-x is a hardware info gatherer for gui, however it doesn't gather the same exact information as hwinfo nor intends to https://github.com/TheTumultuousUnicornOfDarkness/CPU-X

     both programs only gather the information that their developers care about and display it in the manner that their developers care about

     this goes back to the good old issue of developing software, which is, no one who wants to use software wants to develop it, the people who do develop software usually develop it for themselves, the people who want the software developers to cater to their needs do not want to help the development of software, so it becomes a vicious circle of no one getting exactly what they want unless they develop their own software and only a few care enough to do so.

     @EdBoatConnoisseur @nihilvt @ainsworth yeah, hwinfo is a thing because it's developed by a company, so it's propietary.
     
     The FOSS model ain't so bad, but I wish there was more of a donations culture to get stuff to be even better than it is.
