if you do not adore the flowers you pick, then why did you pick them in the first place? I did not endorse things like overhunting, taking what you will not use is unethical, but I do not endorse leaving it "up to nature". we are the nature. we have to make sure we are fair, sure, but my back yard is not the same as an industrial plant. I only put on my table what will be eaten. and it is eaten with joy, and to pretend I said I do all that without emotion takes away my humanity. Beasts do not love their food, they think of hunger as a force outside of themselves that will tear at their skin if they do not tear at anothers first.
