@alyx i kind of dodged an argument where someone was complaining about Rand and its like ok but rand became such a weirdo through basically
- arguing out of the frustration of business owners, and,
- supporting that model of capitalism because voluntary mercantalism is one of the only ways to do business when the use of force is off the table

i see a lot of people specifically not understand this second point and just hate on rand because "she likes being selfish" and its like ok she wrote a book about that, but sometimes weird and unliked shit is a direct product of something else we did like.

i noticed its very common for people to want to seek direct and unsubtle solutions to perceived problems (thus the joke about the systems analyst coming behind and telling you that you can choose 1-1000 but not 7, because 7 is forbidden for no particular reason)
