(His oldest son committed suicide after having an affair with the 5th Earl of Rosebery; when his other son, 16 years old, fell in with Oscar Wilde, he went down to get him back, and because he wrote "posing sodomite" on the calling card he left for Wilde, Wilde sued him for libel. His defense was to hire some PIs and find Wilde's male prostitutes and drugs and whatnot, and after the judge dismissed the case, he handed the documentation over, and that's what got Wilde arrested.)
