If I can add something, let's not forget that things like NAFTA are part of a broader effort. For example, our government gave tax cuts to any corporation that shipped jobs out of the country as part of their war on unions.

I remember a weak attempt by Dems to end those tax cuts, which resulted in them getting attacked for "raising taxes."

For all I know, those tax cuts are still on the books. No doubt your area was affected by this.
