Nonfree and proprietary are two words for the same things.

You can make plenty of money with free software - whether that's custom software or support (few people even make money from binaries of free software, like Ardour, although such practice is now mostly obsolete, like icemen).

Although, it is impossible to make a fortune and become a billionaire without multiple crimes against humanity, for example making software proprietary and for some reason people see becoming a billionaire as a good thing rather than a bad thing.
