I get it. And I think a lot of kids are just dumb. According to everyone who knew me back then, and not just family, I was some sort of idiot savant.

I have no trouble now. I just remember that it was really difficult, and particularly because I didn't think of things as being "sided" or "dominant" if that makes sense. A clock is sided, and has dominant / subdominant hands. I think that's easier to intuitively understand when you also have right / left dominance / subdominance physically.
